Freezing Fog

Even when fog occurs when air temperatures are below freezing point, the tiny water droplets floating in the air can remain as liquid. These super-cooled water droplets will, however, freeze instantly to any surfaces they come into contact with. The resultant layer of ice (known as rime) makes freezing fog especially hazardous.
